Our Response

To meet the growing need for our services, the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We  consistently operate at 90% capacity or higher.

We strive to help each individual and family transition to independence and we consistently see results year after year.

  • In 2014, we assisted 156 women and children in escaping the streets and starting on their journey to independence. In 2015 that number rose to 196 women and children.
  • In 2016 we will see the numbers exceed 200 women and children though our doors.
  • 66% of the homeless that the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter helps are children
  • The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter continues to focus on providing the services and supports that keep families from returning to the streets.

Take a look at our 2015-2016 Report Card.

Over the past five years, more than 85% of the families exiting the shelter were able to move into their own home.
