Our Response

To meet the needs of vulnerable people in our community, the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We  consistently operate at 90% capacity or higher.

We strive to help each individual and family transition to independence and we consistently see results year after year.

  • In 2015, we helped 191 women and children in escaping the streets and starting on their journey to independence. In 2016 that number rose to 227 women and children.
  • In 2016 we added a second shelter location and began serving intact homeless families and those led by single fathers
  • 2/3 of the homeless people that we help are children
  • The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter continues to focus on providing the services and supports that keep families from returning to the streets.
